She was a member of the Heidrick Holiness Church. She worked for the Knox County School System as a Teaching Assistant before retiring. On May 18, 1963, she united in marriage to Norris Braxton "Gooder" McWilliams and to this union three children were born.
Along with her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by; twin grandchildren, Matthew and Emily; her sister; Diann Hembree Baker Johnson; and brother-in-law; Earl Mays.
Joyce is survived by her dear husband, Norris Braxton "Gooder" McWilliams of Cannon; her son; Norris Jeffrey McWilliams and wife, Meleasa of Heidrick; daughters; Elisha Havens and Doug Broughton of Heidrick; Mary Jane Callihan and husband, Josh of Flat Lick; grandchildren; Brandon, Yalonda, Kenna, Zach, Anna Beth, Emma Kate, Max and Mia; great grandchildren; Ayshia and Millie; her sister; Jeanette Mays of Heidrick; brothers; Stanley "Hoot" Hembree and wife, Faye of Gray; Dennis Hembree and wife, Sharon of Barbourville and many dear and beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Joyce Vivian McWilliams will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sylvester Dunn, Rev. Donnie "Duke" Hammons and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Doolin Cemetery at Heidrick, with Family and Friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Joyce's church family at the Heidrick Holiness Church, Lay School Staff, the Blevins and Hammons Family.
Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Friday after 6:00 pm and Saturday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 2:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
