Bob was born on June 12, 1936, in Murphysboro to Glenn Casleton and Magdalen (Young) Casleton.
He graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the Class of 1955. He received honors all four years and was on the Student Council for three years. Bob also was on the football, basketball, and baseball teams all four years. He was named Mr. Senior.
Bob lived in Murphysboro much of his life, and was involved in many organizations and activities in the area such as Kiwanis, Murphysboro Chamber of Commerce, where he served as past president, and Murphysboro Apple Festival Committee to name a few. He was an insurance broker.
In 1985, he moved to Texas and continued his insurance career, as well as involvement in many civic organizations. At the time of his death, he was an active member of St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church in Houston and his faith is Jesus is an inspiration to all those he knew. In his retirement years, he thoroughly enjoyed driving a school bus, as well as, the church bus at St. Cuthbert's.
Mr. Castleton married Peggy Shadron in 1955 and that marriage produced three children. In 1974, he married Lois Evelyn Etherton Waller and she survives.
Other survivors include three children Susan Mitchell and her husband Tom Mitchell of Houston TX, Robert Casleton Jr. of Fort Worth, TX, and Jane Williams and her husband Chris Williams of Murphysboro; two stepchildren Bonnie Wilkerson of DuQuoin and Charlene Wallace of Murphysboro; one brother and sister in law Ron and Harriet Casleton of Albuquerque, NM; one sister and brother in law Glenna and Rick Stein of Murphysboro; six grandchildren Megan Duran and her husband Tony Duran, Ryan Mitchell, and Eryn Mitchell, all of Houston, TX, Shannon Starrick and her husband Jarod Starrick of Marion, and Clay and Garrett Williamson, both of Murphysboro;and three step-grandchildren Brandon and Bobby Wilson, both of Murphysboro, and Michelle Kephart and her husband Mike Kephart of Bloomington, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
