A memorial service for Lois Helene Banton was held Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kirkland, Wash.

Lois Helene Banton was born December 3, 1927, to John and Bertha (Pietz) Luebke.

In 1930, when she was three, her mother passed away. She was raised by her father, along with her two older sisters and a brother. In the 1940s, she moved to Seattle, Wash., where she married Walter Banton on February 26, 1949. Walt died on May 1, 1989. For many years she was a foster mother for many children. In later years she worked for Pacific Northwest Bell until her retirement. She was living with her daughter, Kathy, for the last several years.

She died February 28 at Group Health Eastside Hospital, Redmond, Wash. She attained the age of 80 years.

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Clint) Harris, Kent (Theresa) Banton, George Banton and Kim Froula; grandchildren, Cherie (Harris) Lovell and husband, Mark, Bryon Harris, Beth (Harris) Murphy and husband, Guy, and Christina Banton; one great-granddaughter, Caylee Lovell; a sister, Margarete Plamp; and sister-in-law, Margarete Luebke, both of Parkston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Elvira Battcher; and brother, Roland Luebke.
