Greenwood, Pat Minter, insurance executive, was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, October 4, 1906, son of Elmore Patrick and Edna (Minter) Greenwood. After receiving his preliminary education at Terrill Preparatory School, Dallas, Texas, and Kemper Military Academy, Booneville, Missouri. Pat M. Greenwood attended the University of the South during 1924-25. He left college before completing the course and joined the Great Southern Life Insurance Company in Houston, Texas, as agent in Dallas in 1925. His father was president of the firm. Two years later he became cashier in the renewal department and in 1932 he transferred to the investment department. Pat M Greenwood then became assistant vice-president in 1935, vice-president and a director in 1942, and since July 1953, he has been president of the Great Southern Life Insurance Company. Mr. Greenwood has been a director of the First City National Bank, Houston, since 1954, and he is president of the Texas Life Convention, chairman of the board of the Superior Insurance Company, and the Sentinel Indemnity Company, Dallas. He is the author of an article entitled "Life Insurance in Action" (Texas Industry, Feb. 1954). While resident in Dallas, he was an associate director of the State Fair of Texas. His other civic activities include trusteeship of the Baylor Medical Foundation and the Houston Chamber of Commerce, and directorship of the Kinkaid School, Houston. A past president, the Texas Hunter & Jumper, he is a member of the Houston Golf Association and River Oaks country clubs. In religion he is a Methodist and politically he is a Democrat. He is fond of horses, owning a stable of hunters and jumpers, and finds recreation in playing golf. Mr. Greenwood was married in Dallas, August 27, 1925, to Elizabeth, daughter of James Saunders Wagnon. Together they had six children: Pat Wagnon, who died in childhood; Betty Jean, who married Gerhart Edward Schulte, Jr.; Jimmy Minter; Kay; William Sexton; and Mary Ann.
