MEMORIAL SERVICE HELD FOR ATTORNEY J B CURTIN
Abbreviated version follows --- A native of Tuolumne county, born at Gold Springs near the historic town of Columbia on the 15th day of May 1867, educated in the public schools and by private teaching, and with little assistance other than his own hard work, he gained prominence in his chosen profession and became known throughout the State of California as an able lawyer.
He entered politics as a young man and in 1892 was elected to the office of District Attorney of Tuolumne County for a term of two years. In 1898 he was elected to the office of Senator from this district and served as such in the Legislature of the State of California for sixteen years, and was the author of many important laws now upon the statutes of the State.
