Benjamin Franklin Byrd, Sr., 87, resident of Belleair Beach, FL formerly of Abbeville, SC widower of Evelyn Byrd died Friday April 15, 2005 at Morton Plant Rehabilitation Center in Clearwater, Florida.

Born in Georgia he is the son of Jefferson Terrell Byrd, Sr. (1885-1952) and Florence "Florena" Stewart Byrd (1992-1978).

He was a retired employee with the Seaboard Coastline Railroad with over 40 years of serevices.
Upon retirement he moved to florida and became employed with Point Brittany as a security guard. He was also a mason and a shriner.

Survivors are: 3-sons-Benjamin Franklin Byrd, Jr. Of Dallas, Texas

John Bernard Byrd of Winston-Salem, NC
1-daughter-Elizabeth A. Byrd of Belleiar Beach, FL
1-sister-Eloise Doster-Port Orange, FL

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday April 19, 2005 at 2:30 PM from Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Abbeville, SC with the Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating.

The body is at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Abbeville First Baptist Church, 111 Ellis Ave. Abbeville, SC 29620.
