From the Jonesville (MI) Weekly Independent, 12 January 1862:

Accident and Death

Mr. James Bradshaw, of this town, died on the 8th inst. Some two or three weeks before his death he was at work dressing stone, being a mason by trade, for a school house in the adjacent town of Allen, and accidentally the hammer of a fellow-workman flew from the handle, striking Mr. B with great force in the chest. Illness followed from which he partially recovered, but his lungs proved to have been seriously injured. A man of strong constitution and good habits, he has thus been unexpectedly stricken down by the destroyer. He was about 50 years old, and leaves a wife and three grown-up children. His remains were taken for interment to Rochester, from which place he removed here five or six years since.
