She was born on May 17, 1921 in Butterfield, Arkansas to Perry Edward and Ellen Brown Dempsey. The seventh child of thirteen, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 64 years, Zuriel Lee Sanford Sr. (1916-2003), her first son, Zuriel Lee Sanford, Jr. (1942-1942), her oldest daughter, Mary Ellen Sanford Armstrong (1939-2011), her son, Anthony ''Tony'' Wayne Sanford (1945-2013), and her grandson Robert Earl-Wayne Mettler (1964-2019).
She is survived and remembered with love by her children Eleanor Marie Wilson (Norris) of Earle, Arkansas, Betty Kelley (Don) of Dover, Florida, James Earl Sanford (Barbara) of Dyess, Arkansas and her daughter Julia ''Judy'' Childress of Antioch, California. Grandchildren Charles (Rusty) Mettler, Jr., Zuriel Armstrong, Anita Self, Donita Kelley, Donald Kelley Jr., Tamera Daniel, Teresa Loya, Karen Kelley, Anna Michelle Parker, Cynthia ''Cindy'' Burg, Veronica ''Ronnie'' Faye Sanford, Kimberly Rogers, Carla Hamann, Gregory Armstrong, Tina McCall, Hope Fowler, Ben Sexton, Rob Wilson, Vince Dodd, 26 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services to be schedule at a later date. Interment will be at Crittenden Memorial Park, in Marion, Arkans
