Mary Louise Pippitt, 88, of Pacific Grove died of cancer yesterday at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Mrs. Pippitt was born in Chest Springs, Pa., on Oct. 17, 1908. She moved to Pacific Grove from Orangevale in the early 1950s. When she first moved to Pacific Grove, Mrs. Pippitt operated the Dairyland Café in Pacific Grove with her husband, Pembroke A. Pippitt. She retired as caterer for Hector De Smet's Bakeries in 1989. Mrs. Pippitt was a member of the Christian Church of Pacific Grove. Christian Women's Fellowship, Church Women United, Pacific Grove Business and professional Women, Carmel Valley Gem & Mineral Society, Alliance on Aging, Pacific Grove Senior Citizens Club and Cancer Wellness Group. She is survived by two daughters, Jackie Burns of Pacific Grove and Betty DeSmet of Marina; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1972. A brother, Robert C. Perry, also preceded her in death. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Paul Mortuary Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church of Pacific Grove. Burial will follow in El Carmelo Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Christian Church of Pacific Grove, Pacific Grove.
