Concord Church Resolution of Respect for Sister Mary E. Oveton
Whereas it pleased our Heavenly Father in his infinite wisdom and love to remove from our midst by death on April 16th 1956 our dearly beloved and highly esteemed sister Mary E. Overon. Sister Overton united with the church at Concord in Washington County N.C. at the June Meeting 1918 and remained a Faithful member until death always filling her seat unless providentially hindered and we the Lord by pleased to fill that vacancy with as good and faithful one as she was. Therefore be it Resolved first that we the Church at Concord desire to bow in humble submission to him who doeth all things well feeling our loss is her eternal gain. Be it Resolved second that we extend our hear felt sympathy to the bereaved family in their loneliness and sadness. Therefore be it resolved third that a copy of these Resolutions be spread on our Church record, one sent to the bereaved family and one sent to Zions Landmark for publication. This done by order of the church in conference Saturday before the fourth Sunday in June 1956. (Elder A.L. McKinney Mod. Written by Noah L. Ambrose Asst. CC.)
