BASTROP, LA. Funeral services for Dannie Lee Austin, will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Reverend Scott Petrus will officiate.
Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
Dannie Lee Austin, an electrician by trade, was born September 2, 1948 in Bastrop, Louisiana to the late Palmer James Austin and Nolie Lorene Wilder Austin.
He died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with leukemia.
Dannie is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James Henry Austin; a sister, Peggy Diane Brossett; and a granddaughter, Leanna Kay Chrisulis.
Mr. Austin is survived by his six children, Daniel Austin and his wife, Victoria of Oak Grove, Louisiana; Palmer "P.J." Austin, Jason Austin and wife, Kelly, Beverly Milliren and husband, Scotty, Lorie Conley and husband, Steve all of Bastrop, and Jamie Chrisulis and husband, James "Slim" Chrisulis. Dannie is also survived by his sister, Dorie Monk and husband James of Mer Rouge, Louisiana; his beloved friend and mother of his children, Betty Gray; twenty-four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Charles Sharbono, Tyler Guiterrez, Rodney Austin, James "Slim" Chrisulis, Newton Gray, and Jason Gray.
Honorary pallbearer will be James Monk.
Services will be under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
