Deacon Archelaus Woodman

Was born on 9 June 1672 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Edward (1) Woodman and Mary Goodridge.

Deacon Archelaus Woodman was mentioned in the will of Edward Woodman. In 1695 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, Archelaus married Hannah Swett, daughter of John Swett and Mary Plummer.

He was a Deacon in the Baptist Church and was devoted to the Cause of Vital Piety. On 14 March 1715 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, Deacon Archelaus Woodman was granted permission along with John Emery, Stephen Emery and Benjamin Sawyer to set up a fence across Turkey Hill to keep their sheep from running away.

He left a will on 4 November 1762 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, The will does not mention his wife, Hannah. He died on Monday, 17 March 1766 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, at age 93 years, 9 months and 8 days. His estate was probated on 27 March 1766. Archelaus's estate was inventoried on 23 April 1766 at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, and included "four books of piety."
