Austin W. Andersen, 89, of Houston Texas, formerly of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at his home.

He was born August 6, 1923 in Rigby Idaho, the sixth child of ten children born to Albert Andersen and Vida Ester Waters Andersen.

Austin attended Rigby High School where he met Lillie Baron. They were married March 4, 1943 in the Logan LDS Temple; and were blessed with five daughters.

Austin moved his family in 1957 to California to begin his career as a swimming pool plasterer. In 1965 he moved his family to Houston, Texas where he eventually started, Austin Pool Plastering; a family owned business. Austin retired at age 65.

In 1995 he lost his wife, Lillie, of 52 years. Two years later he married Ona Brandon, they were together for 16 years until his death.

Austin was a member of The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints. He had a great love of country music, gardening, and playing games. Above all he loved his family and cherished the time they spent together.

He is survived by his wife, Ona, of Houston, TX; his brother, Calvin Andersen, of Rupert, ID; children, Sharon (Bob) Tomlinson, of Houston, TX, LaDean Shaftoe, of Kennewick, WA, Marsha Bodily, of Idaho Falls, ID, Geraldine & Rick Brooks, of Houston, TX, and Brenda & Alan Williams, of Houston, TX; 27 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie; his siblings: Eugene Andersen, Milton Andersen, Raymond Andersen, Verda Pelton, Elmo Andersen and Donna Barney; his son-in-law, Robert L. Shaftoe; his grandson, Brian Tomlinson; and great-grandson, Adam Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2013 at The Ammon LDS Chapel, 2150 Avocet Ave., Ammon, Idaho. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.

Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
