Nursing Education-Boston University, MA, Nursing Service Administration, Columbia University NYC. Emergency and Operating Room Nursing, U.S. Naval Hospital, Camp Davis, North Carolina for battalion of Royal Netherlands Marine Corps training in the U.S. during World War II. She served 30 years in the U.S. Navy. O.R. Supervisor and Instructor Aboard USS Constellation (AH-15) (Hospital Ship) during Korean War. Chief, Nursing Services. Station Hospital, Naval Support Activity, Danang, Vietnam. Director, Nursing Services. Health Bureau, Panama Canal Zone Government. Two general hospitals (one at each end of the Canal) 1 Psychiatric Hospital, 1 Leprosarium, 1 School and Public Health Unit. Retired permanently, Established home in San Diego, California. Legion of Merit with Combat "V". She re-wrote the manual "Operating at Sea" for the U.S. Navy. She will be laid to rest on May 13, 2013. A memorial mass at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church in La Jolla, CA at 10:00 a.m. Buried at Miramar National Cemetery San Diego with full military honors at 11:30 a.m. Guests may return to Helen's retirement community Vi at La Jolla, 8515 Costa Verde Blvd., La Jolla, CA 92122, for a celebration of life at 12:30 p.m. She is survived by six nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, many great-great-nieces and nephews.
