Mar 1, 1912 - A son of Mr. and Mrs. George Buford, age 12 years, Lone Elm Township, was killed at Fort Scott Monday, by a train, and the body was buried at Lone Elm Tuesday.

About 12 years ago, a sister of the dead boy was killed in Ozark Township when they lived there. She was killed while playing with a loaded rifle that accidentally discharged.
