He was a truck driver for SuperValu for 34 years until his retirement in 1982.
James was a member of Acanthus Masonic and O.E.S. Lodge.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
