Son of Steve Rajcula who resided in Brookfield, Connecticut.

George served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-17 "Winnie the Pooh" aka "Flak Wolf" #42-3131, 427th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 16, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of fabricated plastic products and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17 #42-3131 took off from Molesworth, England on a bombing mission over Oschersleben, Germany. En route they were attacked by German fighters and were shot down and crashed near Kloster Oesede, Germany four miles southeast of Osnabruk, Germany during the war.

George was "Killed In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in the Netherlands and was later repatriated here on May 22, 1951.

Service # 31144067

The reason he is named on a group headstone is because when soldier's were killed in close proximity to each other they were unable, at that time, to identify them separately and interred their remains together in one grave.
