EMILY ANN WHITAKER RUSSELL of Orlando, FL died in the DePubh Nursing Center. She grew up in Springfield, MA, graduated from Commerce High School in 1935 and became a legal secretary. Preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Theodore Russell (married 8/18/1943), surviving are children, Pamela Mason of Silver Spring, MD, Melissa Newman of Cairo, Egypt, David Russell of Hillsborough, NC and Gilbert Russell of Indialantic, FL; grandchildren; Geoffrey Mason of Rockville, MD, Eleanor Reinholdt of San Francisco, CA, Allison and Devon Newman of suburban Boston, MA, Elliott and Erin Russell of Orlando, FL and great-grandchildren, William and Edward Mason of Rockville, MD. A resident of Orlando since 1953, she was a founding member of St Michael's Episcopal Church, sang in the choir, volunteered in the church office and was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King. For many years, she was a legal secretary in the Orlando firm of Arnold, Matheny & Eagan, retiring in 1986. Emily brought a sense of enthusiasm to every activity she pursued. Whenever she was asked to try something new, her response was always, "Yes!" She loved popular music and hymns, which she sang until her last days. A memorial service will be held at St Michael's Episcopal Church in Orlando on June 8, 2013. Published in the Orlando Sentinel on May 8, 2013.
