Services were held on Thursday, June 8, at the Williams Funeral Home in Asheville, NC, for Martin Jerome Ambrose, 64, who died Monday, June 5, 1995, at his residence in Asheville.
Mr. Ambrose was born in the Bronx, NY. He lived in Millington, NJ, for several years before moving to Asheville. He was a graduate of Manhattan College and Columbia University in New York City. He did his doctoral studies at Syracuse University while teaching at Utica College. He also taught at the Manhattan college and the graduate school of Seton Hall University in South Orange.
Mr. Ambrose was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was past state deputy, and treasurer of the St. Lawrence Council and Faithful Navigator of the St. Lawrence Assembly, Fourth Degree. He was also a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence the Martyr and president of its Parish Council. Mr. Ambrose was a Navy Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, six sons, two daughters, 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
