MELVIN RAY CONNER, age 67, went to his mansion in the sky to play his golden fiddle, on Sunday, June 12, 2010.
Melvin was born in Junction on Jan. 28, 1943, to Glenn & Ethel Conner. He married Joselyn Wahrmund on March 5, 1966. A jack-of-all-trades, Melvin spent much of his working life as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a musical artist, and he and his fiddle touched countless lives for many, many years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 at Graham Funeral Home with Scott Hoffman and Jimmy Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Junction Cemetery. Pallbearers are to be Lupe Huro, Earl Dean Williamson, Tommy Burney, Ken Herring, Vernon Wahrmund, Ray Hooker & Rusty Wallace. Honorary pallbearers are to be Melvin's grandchildren and great-great-children.
Mr. Conner was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Billie & Darlene & two brothers,Edward & Felton. Survivors include his wife, Joselyn of Junction, children, Melvin Conner & wife, Linda of Ozona, Pamela Daniels & husband, Tony, of Odessa & Charles Conner & wife, Molly of Junction, a brother, Cecil Martin & wife, Donleta of Junction; grandchildren, Katherine Ann Glenn, Erika, Holly, Charles Ray, Gayle, Samantha, Jess, Trevor &Thomas; great-grandchildren, Mack, Caleb & Lyric; sister-in-law, Faye Conner, Geneva Conner, Kathrine Walker & husband, Hollis; brother in law, Vernon Wahrmund & wife, Sharon; and numerous nieces, nephews & a family of friends.
