BAILEYSVILLE — Lacy Franklin Morgan, 95, of Baileysville, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Heartland of Beckley after a long illness.

Born April 3, 1918, at Rafe Creek, he was the son of the late William H. "Harrison" Morgan (1875-1966) & Mary Ellen Ellis-Morgan (1887-1980).

Lacy served in World War II with the U.S. Army as a military police officer. Prior to the Army, he worked for NE Shields as a logger and sawmill worker. He worked for Norfolk and Western Railroad which later became Norfolk and Southern Railroad from December 20, 1946, through April 3, 1983, where he retired.

He is a member of American Legion Post 0200, a life member of Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. His hobbies and life enjoyment included gardening, hunting, scouting the woods for ginseng and collecting pocket knives.

He was of the Baptist faith. Lacy was the last member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mary Magaline Lester-Morgan (1925-2009) whom he married on September 8, 1946 in Baileysville, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1946, Page 108, Application Date: September 3, 1946); seven siblings: Alton Morgan (1905-Deceased), Ray Morgan (1908-Deceased), Pearl Morgan (1910-Deceased), Josephine "Josie" Morgan (1912-Deceased), Pvt. Woodrow Morgan (1914-1943), Thomas Morgan (1916-Deceased), Foley T. Morgan (1920-1991), Elsie Morgan (1923-Deceased), Blonnie Morgan (Deceased), Howard Morgan (1925-Deceased), & Oley Morgan (1927-Deceased).

Survivors include two sons, Lacy Franklin Morgan Jr. and his wife, Lula "Marty" of Culloden, W.Va., Billy Ray Morgan, and his wife, Nancy of Bryantown, Md.; three daughters, Sheronda MOrgan-Shields and her husband Eddie of Cub Creek, W.Va., Wilma Morgan-Rowe and her husband, Kenneth of Wallingford, Conn., Shirley Morgan-Hatfield and her husband, Ronnie of Marianna, W.Va.; nine grandchildren, Sherry Lambert and her husband, Ronald of Fayetteville, NC, April Dunnigan and her husband, Toney of Fayetteville, NC, Kenneth Rowe, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Clinton, CT, Melissa Clough and her husband, Travis of Baton Rouge, LA, Marshall Martin and his wife, Kathy of Ikes Fork, WV, Robbie Hatfield and his wife, Teresa of Cabin Creek, WV, Wendy Hatfield and her husband, Kermith of Southport, NC, Benjamin Hatfield, Esq., and his wife, Megan of Beaver, WV, Teresa Vogelsang and her husband, Chad of Conroe, TX; 13 great-grandchildren, Jared Lambert, Kailyn and Kimberly Dunnigan, Michael Holcomb, Tanna Lively, Logan Hatfield, Taylor and Alexis Brogan, Maryann Marie Hatfield, Taylor Vogelsang, Robert Rowe, Christopher Lacy and Aaron Bizzell; three great-great-grandchildren, Cierra Holcomb, Zachary Holcomb and MaKenna Richardson; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Morgan of Bluefield, VA, Wanda Lester of Beckley, and Agnes Beever of Grasonville, MD.

A celebration of Lacy's life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with the Pastor Alan Ledford and Rev. Marshall Martin officiating.

Entombment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
