Karen Rae McKinney Dickens, 62, of Cincinnati, OH., formerly of Ashland, Ky., took her eternal flight on Monday, May 6, 2013.
She was born March 30, 1951, in Ashland, the daughter of the George F. "Frank" McKinney of Russell, Ky. and the late Mary Gullett McKinney.
Karen is a graduate of Boyd County High School and attended Kentucky Christian University. She retired in 2006 from Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital where she served as a secretary. After retirement she worked at Mercy Health Partners as an administrative assistant until 2010. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Ercel C. Dickens of Cincinnati, OH., a son Nicolas J. Dickens (Jennifer) of Flatwoods, Ky., a daughter Myra J. Dickens of Cincinnati, OH., brothers Arvel McKinney of Ashland, Ky., Matthew McKinney of Ashland, Ky., and Tony McKinney of Rush, Ky., her twin sister, Sharon Sorrell of Ashland, Ky., sisters, Carol Sparks of Huntington, WV., Mary Stinson of Ashland, Ky., and Jeri Burchett of Whittensville, Ky., grandchildren, Clayton Ison of Cincinnati, OH., and Payton Dickens, Calvin Dickens and Jackson Dickens of Flatwoods, Ky. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 10, 2013, at Temple Baptist Church, Flatwoods, Ky., with Pastor Gary Jackson and Pastor Jim Pridemore officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, N.E.
