Ralph Lee Sutton, the eldest child of Ralph and Janice Sutton, was born December 4, 1946. He is survived by his mother Janice, brother Paul, sister Connie, 7 nieces and nephews, 3 grandnieces and nephews, sister-in-law and brother-in- law. A prolific entrepreneur, restaurateur, and dedicated sportsman, he owned and operated Big Burger Restaurant until 2003 after which time he established Shoal Creek and Amity Woods Kennels with his partner Warren Jones. As General Manager for Mid-America Cinema, he built and operated the first twin drive-in and the first multiplex indoor theater in the Midwest. Because of his love of hunting and animals, he participated as a National Field Trial judge throughout the United States and was the owner of a National Field Trial Champion, a black lab named JK. A devoted duck hunter and conservationist, he rarely missed an opportunity to go to his farm and pursue his passion. He married Debra D. Beavers on April 26th, 1976, and perished with her in the same tragedy. An active member of Fairview Christian Church, he and his wife renewed their vows in 2006 with family and friends. A quiet man of honor, he could always be counted on to help a friend or family member.

Debra Denise Beavers Sutton, daughter of Wayne and Gwen Beavers, was born January 6, 1953, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She is survived by her sister Ramona Caudle and brother-in-law Sam Caudle of Independence, Mo., and brother Gary Beavers and sister-in-law Cindy Beavers of Olathe, Ks., and two nephews Brian Ortez of Warrensburg, MO, and James Smothers of Independence, MO. She was preceded in death by her sister Pam Ortez and her mother and father. She loved all animals and could never turn one away from her door. She loved to travel and never turned down an opportunity to dance. Debbie's thoughtfulness and love of family will be sorely missed. Debbie and Ralph were a devoted and loving couple and will always be remembered by family and friends. Funeral services for the couple will be held Wed., Jan. 7, 10 a.m., at the Fairview Christian Church, 1800 NE 65th Street, Gladstone, MO. Visitation will be Tues., Jan. 6, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City or Canine Companions for Independence.
