In 1894, David W. Zook, returned from Hepzibah Faith Missionary Training School and for 10 days shared in the five central Kansas BIC churches saying, "What is keeping YOU from taking God's word out into the world?" Eventually 21 young people from that area would find themselves on the foreign mission field. Amanda and Eber Zook were two who responded.

She married Rev. Eber Zook in 1898. Together they traveled to West Bengal India later that same year under the auspices of Hephzibah Faith Missionary Association where her husband, Eber, died in late 1900.

Returned to Chicago Mission near Eber's parents where she met and married Rev. G. Clifford Cress, the widower of Eber's sister, Sarah. They married Mar 29, 1906 in Chicago.

Their children are Alora G Cress (1907 – 1994) and Allene V Cress (1908 – 1995).
