US ARMY WORLD WAR II

A veteran of World War II, he served for two years as a Corporal with the Signal Section of the U.S. Air Force in New Guinea.

Principal at Cottondale Elementary School for 30 years.

Died at Marshall Medical Center North, Guntersville, Alabama.

Following his marriage on May 25, 1940 in Walker County to Daisy Madaris, they taught at Brookwood High School. In 1948, the family moved to Tuscaloosa and began their teaching careers at Cottondale Elementary, where George served as principal for 30 years.

Graduated Livingston State Teachers College. He holds his BS and MS degrees and the AA certificate from the University of Alabama. Taught two years in Walker County, two years Searles, two years Brookwood High School, 28 years at Cottondale Elementary School, retired on July 1, 1975 at Cottondale Elementary School. Member at Alberta Baptist Church for 53 years.

Pallbearers will be Men of the Brookwood High School Class of 1942.
