William Fischer, 83, of Springfield, IL, died at 1:25 am, Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy. He was born June 3, 1929 in Springfield, IL to William L. and Effie Compana Fischer. He married Norma Graft September 9, 1974 and she preceded him in death January 9, 1998.

He was also preceded in death by a son, William L. Fischer III in July 1989 and one niece.

Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia ; two sons, David and Jerold ; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several beloved step-children and two nephews.

William was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated from Springfield High School and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Eagles Club and DAV. He retired from Western Auto where he was a mechanic.

Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
