Peter Kennish was born about 1746 in Santon, Santon Parish, Middle, Isle of Man.
His parents were James Kinnish and Ann Brew Kinnish.

(The family surname is spelled variously as Kennish or Kinnish.)

His siblings included Jane, Margaret, James and John Kinnish.

On 29 Oct 1771 in Rushen, Peter Kenish married Eleanor Qualtrough, daughter of William and Jane Taylor Qualtrough.

The children of Peter and Eleanor Kennish included Thomas, James, William, Elinor, Anne, Jane, Elizabeth, Susannah, Charlotte, Sophia 1, Peter, Sophia 2, Esther and Margaret.

(Sophia 1 was born in March 1790 and lived only two months. This precious child was buried on 9 May 1790 in Kirk Santon churchyard. Sophia 2 was born in September 1793.)
