James Miller Lakey, 89, of Buffalo, ND, died on Sat., July 17, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Arthur, N.D.

Jim was born in Buffalo to Ernest and Effie (Miller) Lakey on Oct. 21, 1920. Jim attended school in Buffalo and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1939. Jim enlisted in the US Army Air Force serving from 1940 until 1946, serving most of the time in North Carolina. Jim farmed with his dad, Ernest, until Ernest retired in 1966. Jim continued to farm until his retirement in 1985. He lived on the home farm, until he moved to Arthur in 2007.

Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Buffalo Wildlife Club. He was also a member of the Buffalo Cemetery Board for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Effie Lakey; a brother, John; sisters, Janet Le Donne and Judy Stangeland.

Jim is survived by a sister, Joan (Harold) Snyder, Port Aransas, TX; a nephew, James (Carol) Bistodeau, Blaine, MN; a niece, Annabelle (Leon) Letsinger, Pinedale, WY.

Visitation: Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 10 to 11 in the First Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, ND.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11 am in the First Presbyterian Church, Buffalo, ND.

Burial: Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND.
