Her obituary says she was buried in the Goodman Family Cemetery west of Apache, Caddo, Oklahoma. May be the Fairview Cemetery. Goodman Family Cemetery is not listed on FAG.

Daughter of C. E. & Georgia Malone.

Married Maurice W. Goodman on 6/2/1940 in Apache, he died in 1982. She was a teacher.

Survived by three daughters; and their husbands, Nancy and Bub Tate of Apache, Becky and Bob Keer of Carnegie, Martha and Jack White of Union City; two sons, Jon Goodman of Apache and Joey and Brigitte Goodman of Lawton. Ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great great grand child. Two sisters-in-law Betty Malone Harding of Edmond, Maxine Watts, Caldwell, Idaho; one brother Dr. Charles Weber of Edmond.

Preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a brother , C. H. Malone.

Burial was in the Goodman Family Cemetery west of Apache under the direction of The Crews Funeral Home.

Funeral for Mary Ellen Goodman, 87, Apache, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at First United Methodist Church of Apache, Okla., with the Revs. Sarah Bodenstein, pastor, and Bud Jones officiating.

Mrs. Goodman died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, in Lawton.

Burial will be at the Goodman Family Cemetery, west of Apache, under direction of Crews Funeral Home.

She was born March 7, 1917, in Mountain View to C.E. and Georgia Malone.

She graduated from Apache High School in 1935 and then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, graduating in 1939 with a degree in secondary education. She later did graduate work at the University of Colorado and received her masters in education at Central Oklahoma University in Edmond.

She married Maurice W. Goodman on June 2, 1940, in Apache. She taught at Union City, Apache and Lawton, and it was in the Lawton system where she helped launch a main-stream secondary program for children with special needs at Eisenhower High School.

In 2000 she was picked by Blue Cross and Blue Shield as one of eight Ageless Heroes of Oklahoma.

Mrs. Goodman was active in numerous civic clubs including the Apache Sew and So Club, Carnegie Mother's Club, Boone Extension Homemakers, Apache Study Club, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, Oklahoma Retired Educators Association and Comanche County Retired Teacher's Association.

Her husband was a long-time member of the Apache Rotary Club and she was a Rotary Ann and was later named a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Apache.

She also authored a book, "Postcards From a "Mo" Betta Time" which was a collection of her original Christmas cards from 1949 until 1995.

Upon the death of her husband in 1982, Mrs. Goodman took over the day-to-day operations of the Goodman Ranch west of Apache and remained active in the business until her death.

Survivors include three daughters and son-in-laws: Nancy and Bub Tate, Apache; Becky and Bob Kerr, Carnegie; and Martha and Jack White, Union City; two sons: Jon Goodman, Apache; and Joey and wife Brigitte, Lawton; 10 grandchildren: Anne Denton, Apache; Mary Kaye Turner, Lawton; Maury Tate, Apache; Kim Squires, Carnegie; Brandon Kerr, Edmond; Jonathan Goodman, Lawton; Jacqueline Goodman, Lawton; Sarah White, Tulsa; Joel White, Tulsa; and Russell Goodman, Lawton; and 10 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jenna and Jayme Denton, all of Apache; Jared, Chase and Kaylee Turner, Lawton; Cydney and Hadley Tate, Apache; Kade Squires, Carnegie; and Ty Kerr, Edmond; and a great-great grandchild: Kyler Denton, Apache; and a sister-in-law, Betty Harding, Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, C.H. Malone.
Memorial donations can be given to the scholarship fund at First United Methodist Church of Apache.
