Charles Jay Quick "CJ" of Nichols

Charles Jay "CJ" Quick, 87, of Stateline Rd., passed away following a period of declining health on Monday, March 26, 2007.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Beverly (Miller) Quick; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Bob Card, Westfield, Pa., Barbara and Richard Tiffany, Endicott, Andrea and Buzz Seeley, Nichols; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles H. and Barbara Quick, Nichols; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Frances and Grant Truesdale, Sayre, Pa; Elizabeth Ann and John McCrory, Kennett Square, Pa; his special grandchildren, Josh and Holly Quick, Becky and Bryan Stradley, Ryan (Lori) Smith, Randy Smith, Eric and Katie Tiffany, Christie and Mikel Seeley; a great-granddaughter, Abbey Linn Smith; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive.

CJ was born on February 3, 1920 in Nichols, a son of the late Charles A. and Neva (Bender) Quick.

He was a graduate of Nichols High School, Class of 1937, and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. CJ was a devoted member of the Nichols Presbyterian Church where he served as church elder. In addition, he was also a 50+-year member of the Nichols Masonic Lodge #333 F&AM. He owned and operated Quickelec Plumbing and Heating and for many years shared his knowledge with students at Broome Tioga BOCES. CJ enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his family. He was instrumental in the construction of the Tioga Country Club, built the Nichols American Legion, assisted in the construction of the Presbyterian Church hall and guided his children in the building of their homes. 

A time of remembering the special gift CJ was to all of us will be held on Sunday, April 1st, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the Nichols Presbyterian Church with his Pastor, Linda Breffle, CLP, officiating. A time of sharing will be held following the memorial service. Flowers will be provide by the family and those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, N.Y. 13204; or the Friends of the Cady Library, PO Box 272, Nichols, N.Y. 13812, in loving memory of Charles Jay "CJ" Quick.
