L.J. KENNEDY was born in Brown County,OH on 21 Sept 1835. About 1854 the family moved to Fulton Co, IL and in 1855 to Douglas County, KS. During the Wakarusa War Mr. KENNEDY took an active part in the battle of Fort Saunders and Fort Titus and assisted in the defense of Lawrence in 1856. He was married to Miss Amanda E. TODD on 29 July 1859. They had seven children. L.J. KENNEDY's parents were Margaret RALSTON KENNEDY and John R. KENNEDY. [Extracted from William G. Cutler's History of the State of Kansas].
