Mamie Graham, 85, passed away peacefully May 2, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, OH. Mamie was born in Faunsdale, AL where she received her formative education and Christian training. She married Wayne Graham in 1946 and enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing in 1995. She earned both Bachelor's and Master's Degrees and taught elementary education for the Toledo Public Schools (Washington Elementary School) until retirement. She also worked with Teacher Core training and mentoring future teachers.
Mamie was a faithful member of Warren A.M.E. Church for many years and later became a founding member of Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church. She served faithfully until her health failed. She worked in civic and social organizations and was a past member of Toledo Chapter of Charms, Coterie and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Mamie was a great planner, entertainer and phenomenal cook.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Wanda Carter; son-in-law, Lawrence Carter of Toledo, OH; three granddaughters, that were her pride and joy, Angela, Staci, and Laura Carter of California; special daughter, Bernice (Willliam) Fitts of Largo, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Family hour will be Thursday 12:00 noon followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Payne Memorial A.M.E. Church, 209 King Road, Pastor Regena Mangrum officiant, entombment Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
