Cummings Rites are Held

Last rites were held Saturday afternoon for Myrtle Barrett Cummings, 93, at the United Methodist Church in Basin. Mrs. Cummings died January 5 in Worland.

She was born April 6, 1883, in Scandia, Kan., the oldest child of Hannah and Lewis Barrett. She and her family moved to the Big Horn Basin in 1895. She married Roy White in 1903. In 1916 she married Robert Cummings.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the War Mothers, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She wa a past-president of the local Legion Auxiliary. She operated a laundry in Basin for 30 years and helped cook for the Rotary Club.

In 1962 she moved to Milmar Home in Greybull and in 1971, she moved to Cloud Peak Manor in Worland.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruth McGetrick of Spokane, Wash., and Mary Hubbell of Basin, three sons, Robert Cummings of Great Falls, Mont., Guy Cummings of Powell and James Cummings of Greybull; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The Rev. Theodore Cox officiated at the funeral service. Pallbearers were Albert McKim, Adrian Trumbull, Arthur Batenhorst, Floyd Whipps, Orville Wright and C. Ray Williams. Burial took place in Mount View Cemetery, with the Atwood Family, funeral directors in charge.
