Edward J. Brink

Devoted husband and father Edward Joseph Brink, Sr., of Rehoboth Beach, DE, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 78 years of age. He was born in Scranton, PA in 1934. In 1959 he joined the Prince George's County Police Department where he served as a Police Officer for five years. After leaving the police force, he worked in various agencies within the Federal Government until he retired in 1987. He was ordained a permanent deacon by the Archdiocese of Washington, DC in 1984. He served as a deacon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Upper Marlboro, MD until he moved to Delaware in 1996. He faithfully served at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, DE and St. Jude The Apostle in Lewes, DE. He retired from his service to God in 2009.

Ed married Jane Plumer in 1954 and they celebrated 58 wonderful years together. Ed is survived by his devoted wife Jane and his children, Cindy Rose and her husband Paul, Edward Brink, Jr., and his wife Carrie, Kathy Strother and her husband David, Pat Zulueta and her husband Fred, Betty Fale and Francis Allen, Jr., Cheryl Jackson and her husband Walter, as well as 53 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Ed is also survived by numerous friends and fellow deacons. Ed was preceded in death by his mother Mary Brink, father Clarence Brink, sister Mary Clair Smith, son Timothy Brink, son-in-law William Fale Jr., granddaughter Stephanie Brink, great grandson Andrew King II, and great grandson Bryson King. Ed believed time spent with family was the most precious time afforded him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, with a visitation in the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland on Friday.

The family would like to thank the staff of Delaware Hospice for the excellent care that they provided Ed over the course of his illness. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE. 19963.
