Virginia M. (McCandless) Albert, age 96, of Butler, passed away Tuesday evening in Chicora Medical Center.

She was born January 16, 1917 in Butler, and was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret B. Kummer McCandless.

Virginia was a 60 year plus member of the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, belonged to Mt. Chestnut Senior Center, and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two children: Nancy Cooper of the Atlanta area, GA; Rodger Albert of Syracuse, NY; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Beth Cooper (Michael) DeMaria of GA, their children Sarah, Matthew, Joey; Jill Cooper (Patrick) Dunn of VT, their children Zachery and Gabriel; Kristen Cooper of GA; Kate Cooper Henrys of FL; Valerie Albert (James) Lardy of WI, their children Jonathan, Amanda, Michael, Lauren, Nyla, Natasha; Susanne Albert (Jon) Bang of NY, their children Grace, Adam, Eric; Scott (Cristin) Albert of NY, their children Jay and Michael; her brother Lawrence (Sophie) McCandless of FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and a close friend of many years, Fred Moses of Butler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Huber Albert, who she married May 16, 1940 and passed away January 17, 1986; four brothers; and two sisters.

The family will have a private visitation at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main Street, Prospect. All are invited to a Funeral Service, 12:30pm on Friday, March 29, 2013 in the Mt. Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 W Old Rt 422, Butler, with her pastor Rev. Jeff Curtis, officiating. The family will have a private interment on Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Greenlawn Burial Estates Cemetery, Butler.
