Velma Louise Collins, 88, Russellville, Ala., passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.

She was a native of Oklahoma and member of the Russellville Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Pat Murray officiating. Burial followed in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Survivors include her children, Donald Collins and wife, Linda, Hodges, Larry Collins and wife, Brenda, Russellville, Linda Posey and husband, Larry, Barton, Marilyn Mayfield and husband, Jerry, Russellville, Sharon Lindsey and husband, Tony, Russellville, Jerry Collins and wife, Wanda, Newnan, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dot Murphy and Carolyn Johnston, both of Arizona; brother, Joe Collum, Red Bay; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, William C. Collins; son, Charles Collins; daughter, Barbara Ivey; grandson, James Tyler Lindsey; brothers, George and James Collum.

Special thanks to Terrace Manor Nursing Home where Mother resided for 13 years. There she received the best of care from employees past and present. Thanks to Dr. Kevin Kelly, the entire staff of Terrace Manor and to all who had a hand in taking care of our precious mother, especially Linda who was an angel to Mother and all of us.

While we mourn this event privately, we want to say publicly that she was the most perfect mother by the life she lived and the example she set. We have truly been blessed, and she will forever be our guardian angel.

The funeral was directed by Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville.
