BLUE EARTH - Funeral services for Arnold C. Mensing, 88, of Blue Earth, will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Elmore, with Rev. Dale Kohrs officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth.

Arnold died Monday, May 6, 2013, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Arnold C. Mensing was born June 14, 1924, in rural Blue Earth, the son of Herman H. and Frieda M. (Martin) Mensing. He was raised in the Blue Earth area, where he attended Jo Daviss Township country school. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Arnold served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Italy and Africa. He earned several service awards and medals. He returned home in December 1945 and was later married to Beatrice I. Kienitz on July 28, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Elmore. The couple farmed for many years where Arnold specialized in dairy. He was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where he held several church board positions; he served on the Elmore School Board, was a longtime member of the Blue Earth American Legion Post 89 and VFW Post 4580, and served various dairy and farm boards. Arnold was a 4-H leader and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed several fishing trips up North with family and friends.

Arnold is survived by his wife, Beatrice Mensing of Blue Earth; sons, Mark (Irene) Mensing of Blue Earth and Philip (Corrine) Mensing of Elmore; daughter, Brenda (Tim) Bauer of Fargo, N.D.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Jean Mensing; sisters, Eleanor Ehrich and Frances Abraham; brother, Ralph Mensing and a grandson, Danny Mensing.
