Marvin Eugene Spencer passed away at Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the age of 80 years. Marvin was born on March 12, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Spence Spencer & Agnes (Ratcliff) Spencer. He was brought up in Oklahoma, in Fitztown and Wewoka, and was a graduate of Wewoka High School. He served in the U.S. Army with the 45th Division Thunderbirds in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad in various capacities, including Conductor, and for PanAm Airlines. He also worked in the oilfield, where he acquired the nickname ‘Smooth Operator'. He was married to Opal (Wallace) King in Eldorado, Arkansas, and has lived the past several years in Okemah. He was an avid OU fan and loved to gamble at casinos, entertainment that kept him alive for the past seven years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Spence & Agnes Spencer; one son, Kim Spencer, and one stepson, Randy King; one sister, Nadine Jackson. Graveside services will be held and Marvin will be laid to rest on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens east of Seminole.
