Louisa was the oldest dau. of John and Mahala Watkins. She was born in Clairborne Co. TN. but moved to Whitley Co. KY as a child and married Benjamin Cravens there bef. 1857. They had twelve children. Their names were, Frances Serena b. 1857 IN., William E. b.1859 IA., Julia Ann b. 1861 IA., John Frank b. 1862 KY., Naomi b. 1865 MO., Elijah Thomas b. 1866 IA., Sophia B. b. 1868 IA., Benjamin S. b. 1870 KS., George T. b.1874 IA., Walter A. b. 1877 IA., Daniel "Doc" b. 1879 IA., Milan G. b. 1880 IA.
