There is a photo of Margaret with two of her children, Thomas Harvey and Andrew Johnson "John" Hankins. Photo was taken around 1920 and is in the possession of another 2nd great granddaughter. Photo copyright by the author of the blog: https://www.org4life.com/moms-memorabilia.

The memorial creator and cousin's original bio had Amanda H Keesling Wisehart listed as daughter. There is a possible 2 year difference in age between the Amanda listed on census with the family and this Amanda. The author of "Keesling Cemetary" has parents listed as Martin and Catherine? Keesling for that Amanda Keesling Wisehart.

All the children that seem to be born out of wedlock, have been throughly researched and here is my SPECULATION on possible father: Newton A Trueblood

Oldest daughter ,Sarah's death certificate shows the father's name Trueblood. The informant on the death certificate looks to be a family friend. Margaret Keesling has 4 kids on her 1870 census all under her maiden name. There is a Stephen Trueblood listed with Margaret Keesling's family on 1850 census. It shows a birth year about 1833. After researching ,and looking for possible candidates, the only Stephen Trueblood found in Indiana, was born about 1848. Looking for the last name Trueblood , in Henry County, Indiana and birth year the name Newton Trueblood appeared. Newton appears on another 1850 census with parents and siblings in Indiana. The 1850 census for Trueblood living with the Keeslings was in August. The Newton Trueblood 1850 census was in September. It is well known that are mistakes on censuses ,such as names. Could it have been a misunderstanding of the names with the Keesling family. They are similar ending names in en/on.

There are several coincidences with this specific individual. The timing pans out. He didn't marry until 1864 and never had kids with his wife. There isn't a marriage seen with him and Margaret. Her 4 children were born between 1854-1862. Coincidently Margaret's youngest of her 4 Keesling children, her son was named Newton. Is it possible after his father? Newton shows to have siblings named Amanda (full) and Lindley(half). Margaret has a daughter named Amanda on 1860 and 1870 censuses- named after possible Aunt? Margaret's daughter Sarah Keesling Hurst has a child named Lindley on 1880 census- named after a great uncle? It shows on Newton's obituary that he went by an alias. He was located in the area where Margaret once lived. Could it be that there was a major falling out? Did he abandon his children?
