Karen Love passed away May 5, 2013 peacefully in her home in West Jordan with her two daughters at her side. Karen was born October 6, 1938 in Salt Lake City, UT to Melvin Wayne and Alberta Hardy Shurtliff. She married Gordon Howard Love November 23, 1956 and together they had four children. Karen was a homemaker and followed her husband around the world during his military career. They finally made Utah their home the past 36 years. Karen was a playground aid at Vista Elementary where she was known as "Granny" and an aid for many years at Hartvigsen School and love working with the children and had many friends there. She loved camping with her siblings and spent many summers camping at Bear River with all the kids. Karen was a member of the LSD Church and held many callings in the Primary organization. The past few years she has fought a great battle with Alzheimer's. She is now free and able to remember all that she has lived throughout her life. Karen leaves behind four siblings, Chuck, Kris, Pam and Kim. She also leaves behind her four children, Tracey (Bryan Menzel), Kip, Kelly (Wendy) and Misti (Brett Sowell), sixteen grandchildren, two great-grand children and one step great-grand child. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Bonnie and two grandchildren. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aids from VistaCare Hospice for their care. A graveside service will be held in her honor May 9, 2013 at 3:30PM at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
