Laura was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret Ann (Clark) Lombard, wife of Ernest W. Woods, and mother of Therle, Irene, Margaret, Joyce, Edith and Esther.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. E. W. Woods, 76, on Oct. 13 at the First Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. A family service was held at the Boldt Funeral Home with the Rev. J. Lynn Pace and Dr. Curtis Akenson officiating. Carl Norlin sang "After" and "Does Jesus Care." Interment was made in the Maple Lawn Cemetery. The pallbearers were Kenneth Shaske of Nerstrand, Frank Shaske Jr., Daniel Shaske and Gordon Finley, all of Faribault, Clair Finley of Peetz, Colo., and David Finley of Syracuse, Ind.
Mrs. Woods passed away at the St. Lucas Deaconess Hospital on Thursday evening, Oct. 9, following a brief illness. Mrs. Woods resided at 220 Park Ave. N. W. in Faribault.

Laura Kalista Lombard was born on Dec. 12, 1881, to Daniel and Margaret Clark Lombard in Osage, Iowa. She attended rural schools in MItchell County in Iowa, the Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage, Iowa, receiving her teachers certificate. She taught school in rural schools of Mitchell County before her marriage. On Nov. 27, 1902, she was married to Ernest W. Woods in Osage, Iowa. They resided in Osage until 1908 when they moved to Augusta, Kan., until 1910. They moved back to Osage until November of 1916 and then farmed near Faribault until 1932. They moved to Faribault in 1932 and have resided here since. Mrs. Woods operated the Woods Nursing Home for many years, she cared for welfare children and old people from 1932 to 1940. The first nursing home was established in 1940, the second in 1951. Mrs. Woods has been active in Senior Citizens activities in Faribault during recent years and was a member of the Baptist Church since young womanhood.

She is survived by her husband; by six daughters, Miss Therle Woods of Faribault, Miss Irene Woods of Minneapolis, Mrs. Frank Shaske (Margaret) of Faribault, Mrs. Llewellynn Finley (Joyce) of Peetz, Colo., Mrs. Ellvynn Finley (Edith) of Faribault, and Mrs. Clarence Kloster (Esther) of Northfield, by 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; by one sister, Mrs. Robert Whipple of Charles City, Iowa. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from Peetz, Coo., Syracuse, Ind., Stoughton, Wis., Osage, Iowa, Floyd, Iowa, Waverly, Iowa, Rochester, Kenyon, Nerstrand, Minneapolis and Northfield.
