Joseph was a farm laborer, son of John Blancher and Margeret Ann Barber. He was born in West Oxford Township. About 1920, he moved to Alberta and worked as a farm labourer around High River and Blackie. From Alberta he moved to California and worked in the citrus fruit groves. In 1931, he returned to Ontario, and settled at Crampton. He later moved to Centerville, where he lived with Ashton Blancher and his wife Edna. His final years were spent in London, Ontario, where he died. He left a substantial legacy to the West Oxford Church.
