Dr. Reid White, Sr. was the son of James Jones White and Mary Louisa Reid. He married Lucy Waddell Preston and served as a Major in World War I.

On the 1880 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found James I White, 51; wife Mary L, 47; daughters: Sallie H, 20; Belle, 18; Agnes R, 15 and sons: William C, 14 and Reid, 12, all VA born.

In 1892, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. The following year he was practicing in Lexington, VA. He served on the State Board of Health from 1911 to 1920. He was a major in the World War 1. He was Vice President of the First National Bank of Lexington. 22 Oct 1895, in Lexington, VA, Reid White, the son of Jas J and MLR White, age 27, born in Lexington, VA, married Lucy Waddell Preston, 26, born in Richmond, daughter of Dr. Thomas L and Lucy W Preston.

On the 1900 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found physician Reid White, 32, Mar 1868; wife Lucie Preston White, 30, Jun 1869, had 2 kids, both living: Thomas Preston W. White, 3, Sept 1896; James Jones White, 2, Dec 1897; Mother Mary Louisa White, 67; servants: Bettie Barnett, 40; Maitlln Barnett, 7; Henet Mc Winnill, 45 and Annie Kinnie, 10, all VA born.

On the 1910 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found physician Reid White, 42; wife Lucy P., 40; Thos P., 13; Jas J. 12; Reid, Jr., 9; Lucy G.. 5, plus 2 lodgers and 3 servants, all VA born.

On the 1930 Lexington, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found physician Reid White, 62; wife Elizabeth B, 57; son Reid, Jr., 28 and servant Annie Miles, all VA born.
