John Paul "Pope" Sokolsky, 49, of Mayfield, died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. John was born in Carbondale on Feb. 27, 1964. He was employed as an union electrician with IBEW Local 81 and worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School, class of 1982, and was a lifelong member of Whitmore Hose Company, Mayfield. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and riding his motorcycle and quad. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. John's R.O. Cemetery, Mayfield. Friends may call Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m., at Ryczak-Harrison Funeral Home Inc., 901 Lackawanna Ave., Mayfield. Parastas will be at 7:45.
