MRS. LAMBIE DIES HERE AT AGE OF 80

Widow of Former Mayor of Northampton Mass., Was Once Known as Concert Contralto
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mrs. Henrietta E. Lambie, 80, one time well known concert contralto of New York, died early today at the home of her daughter, Margaret Lambie, 1661 Crescent place, after a lingering illness.
She was the widow of Jasper Eadie Lambie, former mayor of Northampton, Mass., who died in 1898.
Born in September, 1851, in Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. Lambie moved with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Bryan, to New York in childhood. She was married in New York in 1875 and at that time was prominent as a concert, and church singer.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Lambie lived with her two children, Margaret and Morris Bryan Lambie, in Northampton for some time, until she came to Washington about 10 years ago with her daughter, an attorney specializing in international law here. Her son is a professor of political science at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
Private services were held today at the apartment. The remains will be cremated and taken to Easthampton, Mass., for burial later. Besides her son and daughter, she is survived by a sister and two brothers. She was a member of All Souls’ Unitarian Church here.
