Nellie Beeman
A funeral service was conducted in Rochester, Thursday for Mrs. Roscoe C. (Nellie) Beeman, of that city, formerly of Canandaigua, who died Tuesday, February 2, in a Churchville nursing home, where she had been a patient since November. She was 86.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith. She had taught school in the Hopewell District and a Canandaigua district school on the Geneva Turnpike. She married Mr. Beeman, then a guard at the county jail 1898. Prior to moving to Rochester they owned and operated in Hopewell, the Cheshire area and in the town of Canandaigua. Mr. Beeman died in 1952. Mrs. Beeman is survived by six sons and three daughters; Sherman of Shortsville; Howard of Orchard Park; Elsworth of North Tonawanda, Winston, Niagara Falls, Warren, North Chili, Robert of Rochester, Mrs. Donald Stevens, Rochester, Mrs. Frank Fischer, Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Harvey Dudley, Penfield; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The oldest of her 10 children, Mrs. Harold Gilbert of Rochester, is deceased.
