Bernice J. ARTHUR, 89, 302 E. Rochester St., Akron, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday at her home.
Born in Fulton County to Harvey and Ida ACHEY WALKER, she married Elwood "Slim" ARTHUR Sept. 7, 1935. He died April 29, 1985.
Mrs. Arthur was a homemaker and a member of Paw Paw United Methodist Church, Miami County.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara ZARTMAN and husband David, Twelve Mile; Mary Frances WOOD and husband Richard, Akron; one son, Harvey [ARTHUR] and wife Peg, Akron; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenneth WALKER, Melvin WALKER and wife Jewell, all of Wabash; Clifford WALKER and wife Hazel, Donald WALKER and wife Doris, all of Peru; two sisters, Gladys DEEDS, Rochester; Mary "Kate" CAMPBELL, Akron.
Preceding in death with her husband were an infant son, Jack [ARTHUR], two sisters, Beulah WINNINGHAM and Eathel MONGOSA, six brothers, Ralph, Wayne, Russell, Arthur, Eugene, and Robert WALKER.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with Rev. Richard FOX officiating. Burial is at Akron Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Paw Paw United Methodist Church, Miami County.
