Reuben Porras Jr., 61, of Newnan, Georgia died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He was born June 15, 1951 in Dallas, TX to Reuben Porras Sr. and Catalina Valdez.

His father preceded him in death.

Reuben grew up in Texas, attended Jesuit Prepatory and graduated in 1969 from the University of North Texas with a degree in Radio, Film, and Television. He was a freelance Cinematographer and worked on several movies and numerous sporting events. He traveled around the world filming sporting events for the NFL, MLB and NASCAR. He was a two-time Emmy Award winner for his work on the Inside of NFL program in 1991 and 1995. Reuben was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where he was active in numerous programs.

The memorial service is Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church with Rev. Barbara Gibson and Rev. Dan Dahl officiating. The visitation is Monday evening between 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St. Newnan, GA.

Rather than flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1250 Lora Smith Rd., Newnan, GA 30265.

Survivors include son, Noah Porras and wife, Alicia of Newnan; mother, Catalina Scott of Newnan; sister, Monica Olivera and husband, Andrew of Fort Worth, TX; grandsons, Connor Porras, Grayson Porraas; niece, Monica Hazelton and husband Brad of Scotland Neck, NC; great-nephew, Noah Hazelton; and great-niece, Naomi Hazelton.
