MARIBETH PASSED AWAY, AFTER A LONG FIGHT WITH CANCER, ON THE 25TH MARCH 2005, AT HER HOME IN GILMER, TEXAS. MARIBETH WAS BORN ON THE 23RD OF SEP, 1956 IN BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN. SHE GREW UP IN HOBBS NEW MEXICO AND WAS A GRADUATE OF HOBBS HIGH SCHOOL.

MARIBETH AND BARBARA WEISS, MARIBETH'S BEST FRIEND & BUSINESS PARTNER FOR 10 YEARS WERE ACTIVE GENEALOGIST,AND CEMETERY TRANSCRIBERS. THEY HAVE RECORDED MORE COUNTY SITES IN THE STATE OF TEXAS, THAN ANYONE IN HISTORY. ACCORDING TO. www.txgenes.com/TxUpshur/Memorials.html.
WHICH ALSO INCLUDED GRAVES IN 13 STATES.

MARIBETH WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE FELLOWSHIP BIBLE CHURCH OF LONGVIEW, TEXAS.
MARIBETH IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER, VANESSA AUTRY OF SACRAMENTO, CALIF., SON JOHN ANTHONY LANDRUM OF BRIDGE CITY TEXAS, HER FATHER MATT WHITTAKER AND BROTHER MICHAEL WHITTAKER OF HOBBS, NEW MEXICO AND BROTHER STEVE PAUL WHITTAKER OF ATHENS, TEXAS. AND BEST FRIEND IN CHRIST AND BUSINESS PARTNER, BARBARA WEISS AND FAMILY OF ORE CITY, TEXAS.

Our favorite hobby was to go "graveyarden'" as we would always say it. TOGETHER WE RECORDED 39,665 INTERMENTS TO BE EXACT, ACCORDING TO: findagrave.

No matter where we went we could always findagrave. We found so many because our job allowed us to travel and then of course vacations helped with all the other states.
As transcribers, incorrect info or to have something missing, would drive us both crazy and sometimes we would drive 20 - 30 miles, or futher, to check transcriptions that made us wonder if there was an error. Genealogy can be very fulfilling or very frustrating, so our intent was to be as accurate as possible and share as much correct info as we could, to make the searches of others easier.
We really enjoyed all the e-mails, we have received from all around the world. Filled with thanks and questions, hoping we could give them more information, other than what was transcribed online. Praising us, or requesting pictures, we loved it all, except for the heat of course.

Maribeth's family, honored her last wishes spoken only to me. Maribeth chose to be cremated. But,the hardest part about that for her was that there wouldn't be a stone to mark her place here on earth. And she and I did love to read stones. Maribeth's family has made sure that that didn't happen.
There has been a headstone placed between her grandparent's stones, Mildred "Ted" and Charles "Bus" Whittaker. Ted, Bus and Maribeth's stones can be viewed at Prairie Haven Cemetery, in Hobbs. The stone has her name spelled incorrect. The correct spelling is how I have it in my memorial to her.
Portions of her ashes went to her daughter Vanessa, and son John. Ashes are also to be scattered on her grandparents graves in Hobbs, N.M.

Maribeth was raised in Hobbs by her father Matt Whittaker and grandparents, Ted and Bus.

Sister of Jeanne Marie Whittaker
